Week 1 – June 28 to July 1

Yoga Camp – COMPLETE

Ultimate Summer Fun Zone – COMPLETE

The ultimate place to play, explore, and socialize is right here! There will be a fun-filled environment with a wide variety of awesome activities and projects that will take our summer to the next level! Create your own “DIY outdoor games”. We are talking Beach Ball Bowling, Tic Tac Toe, Glow in the Dark activities, Giant Jenga, and Flamingo Ring Toss! We will have team challenges, play, explore, try new things, and build confidence!


Type Like Typhoons – COMPLETE

Do you want to improve your typing skills? Do you use the “hunt and peck” way to type with just two fingers? Keyboarding is a very important skill to use in college and work. Following the proper keyboarding techniques can increase your speed and accuracy. Imagine you can learn to type automatically without ever looking at the keyboard!


Live from Harborfields – COMPLETE

HACEF is proud to present this exceptional opportunity for our students—taking place in the Tornado News TV Studio suite with adjacent video editing computer lab at Harborfields High School! Campers will work in collaborative news teams as reporter, videographers, directors, and video editors to create “news package” videos which become part of their “Live from Harborfields” newscast. Campers will learn how to operate cameras, use microphones, operate and read from teleprompters, use greenscreens, and edit videos. At the end of the camp, campers and their families will be able to view and download their “Live from Harborfields” newscast video that they will create during the week.


Robotics – COMPLETE

Robotics is a cutting-edge learning opportunity for our Harborfields children, presenting students with the chance to learn and enjoy programming, mechanical design, and electrical construction. Being proficient in robotic challenges offers much in the way of technological skill development, planning, executive organization, and teamwork as well as offering unique chances for creative expression. These life-changing skills will help give students a leg up in technology—all while having a great time!


Painting Al Fresco – COMPLETE

Having trouble choosing between an indoor summer activity and an outdoor one? Now you don’t have to! Make art while enjoying the beautiful summer outdoors with Painting Al Fresco camp! This camp includes four fun days of exploring various sketching and painting techniques. Students will have sketchbook exercises and learn tips and styles for painting gorgeous landscapes, gardens, perhaps even the waterfront! Follow our professional art instructor to a new creative place each day (both on campus and off) to learn and make friends who like art as much as you do. There will be a field trip to Northport Village on a designated day. The week will end with an art exhibit for family and friends.


Digital Photography for Beginners – COMPLETE

See the world through your lens! Capture great images and refine them through digital imaging. This fun experience will teach students how to really use their digital cameras and then how to edit those images in Adobe Photoshop. Students will learn the different modes and settings on their cameras, learn about photographic composition, lighting, and editing in Photoshop. Campers are encouraged to use their own camera if they have one, but cameras can be provided as well. There will be a field trip to Northport Village on a designated day.

Here is a wonderful opportunity for your child to meet other Harborfields children entering kindergarten in a relaxed, and fun setting.
Your child will experience a shorter version of a Kindergarten day. Activities will include a story, meeting, fun math, language, science, & art activities There will be hands-on projects, friendship-building activities, joyful music, and playful games to help the children enjoy themselves, their environment, and each other!

*Please note that this Kindergarten camp is offered three times this summer and is repeatable; there will be different projects each session!


Sew It Yourself – COMPLETE
Instructor: Keri Puglisi

This camp will be SEW much fun! Taught by Keri Puglisi, owner of Loops by Keri and of EmmaLoops Creative Studio, this class will explore hand sewing at each child’s level, whether they are new to sewing or have been sewing for years. Students will create a unique and lovable stuffed animal/creature of their very own design. With each project, students will experiment with cutting, pinning, and hand sewing as well as explore different embellishments like buttons and beads and how to best add to their work. No prior sewing experience needed.


World Travelers – COMPLETE

Come with Mrs. Krause on an adventure of a lifetime to Hong Kong, Australia, Hawaii and Paris! Each day the children will have their personalized passports “stamped” as they make their way around the globe. Campers will discover the richness of other cultures through activities, songs, dance and art.


Exploring 2D & 3D Art – COMPLETE

Both fun and inspiring, 2D & 3D art opens up a world of exciting possibilities! Children will explore a variety of visual arts mediums such as painting, drawing, sculpture, mixed media and more. Age-appropriate projects are geared to expand students’ artistic horizons by improving knowledge and skills. The session culminates with an art exhibition featuring artworks created during camp for family and friends to enjoy.


Extraordinary Entrepreneurs – COMPLETE

Entrepreneurs will create a product or service of their choice and present it. We will discuss creativity, innovation, innovation, design, leadership, and much more!

Pioneer Days – COMPLETE

Take a trip back in time and discover what life was like in the 1800’s for families traveling to new lands. This slice of American history will be joyfully explored through vintage crafts and games:  learn how to churn butter, write with quill pens, make a yarn doll, play cat’s cradle and explore many other activities that are still exciting and fun today!  Come and have some good old-fashioned fun and learn a little bit about this historical period at the same time.


Lego Camp – COMPLETE

Our Lego based engineering summer camp will give kids the chance to apply real-world concepts as they build their own creations! Campers will have the opportunity to learn more about STEM concepts, and develop skills like critical thinking, collaboration, innovation, communication, and much more! This interactive Lego camp lends itself to social growth and self discovery, just as much as technical learning.


Chocolate Mania – COMPLETE

Get your taste buds ready for some sweet and salty sensations as you learn the amazing things you can create with chocolate! This chocolate-making workshop allows you to create and explore this confection as never before. Learn how to dip, mold, and decorate delicious chocolate creations. Design your own candy box to take home, make extraordinary lollipops, experiment with clever molds, wrap your creations beautifully, and much more! By the end of the week you will become a master chocolatier, ready to throw your own Chocolate Fondue Party!


Show Me The Money – COMPLETE

Are you interested in learning more about money? Do you want to know the secrets about successfully handling your money? This camp will discuss wants vs. needs, checking and savings accounts, credit and debit cards, and income and expenses. This is a great way to learn good money management and habits!


Introduction to Fashion Design – COMPLETE

Students will be introduced to the History of Fashion Design which will inspire and influence their own contemporary fashion designs. They will learn to apply clothing to the fashion figure (croquis) an how to render fabrics, textures, styles of details and become skillful in various techniques using colored pencils. Their final project will be a unique Signature Seasonal Collection.

 


Week 4 – July 18 to July 21

Storybooks Come Alive – COMPLETE

Small campers will be whisked into the magical world of favorite storybooks, as they experience these books using all their senses! Maybe one day you will give a pig a pancake and the next day help Pete sing a song when he loses a groovy button! What would happen if we DO let the pigeon drive the bus? Joyful and sensory art projects including drawing, painting, and clay will help bring these whimsical characters, even creatures such as dragons and unicorns, to life. Children will be encouraged to bring in their favorite books to share with the class and see what fun can be “drawn” out of the story to make it even more wonderful.


Summer Movie Madness – COMPLETE

This camp will focus on one movie for each day of the camp a campers to participate in STEAM activities!
Jurassic Park: campers will create fossils and participate in a dino dung dig.
Monsters Inc: campers will create their own monster using art supplies and create mood pictures using watercolors that highlight a particular scene from the movie.

Wreck it Ralph: campers will create their own sugar rush car and create a roller coasters using recyclable materials.
Toy Story: campers will create their own Forky friend and design their own graphic strip with Forky and the other Toy Story friends as the main characters using various art materials.


Making Summer Memories – COMPLETE

Turn off the phones and tune into Summer! This camp is a return to beloved and traditional games and old time summer activities to delight a child’s imagination. Campers will participate in sand art, tie-dying, arts and crafts, outdoor play and sidewalk chalk. We will create a sign for our famous lemonade stand and then sell it together as a group to raise money for a local charity.  Kids will learn strategy and communication skills while playing favorite board games such as Scrabble, Battleship, and Monopoly. The children will play old-fashioned outdoor games like kickball, hopscotch, Red Light Green Light and also engage in a scavenger hunt with an awesome prize at the end!


Cake Creations – COMPLETE

Explore different ways to turn cake into new creative creations. Learn piping techniques to frost and decorate cupcakes. Transform store bought cakes into fun cake pops and scrumptious layered cakes. Get inspired by designing your own apron and displaying your delicious desserts! Some projects Include Cupcake Decorating with Frosting, Strawberry Shortcake Layer Cake, S’mores Mug Cake, Oreo Boxed Cake, and Cake Pops.

Campers will enroll as Jedi trainees. They will participate in science experiments, design crafts involving their favorite Star Wars characters, make light sabers, and enjoy a culminating visit from a special guest who teaches our campers special moves to conclude their Jedi training work as they seek Jedi Mind Power control.

The emphasis in Fashion II will be on creating an evening gown for the “Oscar Awards” with accessories and a cocktail dress for the “MTV Awards” and accessories.

We will review applying clothing to the fashion figure, and color pencil skills.

No prerequisite – no need to have taken Intro to Fashion to attend this camp.


Week 6 – August 1 to August 4

Dance Camp – FULL

Come dance with us! Campers will learn technique and skills in different styles of dance as well as work on improvisation and choreography. It will be a fun, upbeat, energy filled experience that can foster their self esteem, confidence, creativity and a love for the art of dance!
Dance styles will be Ballet and Hip Hop!


Under the Sea – FULL
Instructor: Isabella Avanzi

The perfect camp for beach and ocean lovers: Let’s draw inspiration for our art from the beautiful sea, teeming with diverse and beautiful creatures—including real animals and those that are magical and mystical! Paint gorgeous watercolor aquatic scenes with sharks, mermaids, fish, and more. Add details and embellishments that will make these pieces of artwork “pop” with 3-D effect. Create treasure chests out of clay and store precious items within. Paint beach scenes with real sand and other beachy materials including seashells, sand dollars, and miniature starfish. Craft a jellyfish with fun materials including streamers and glitter! There will be an art exhibit at the end of the week to showcase each child’s work.

 


Pokemon Fun – FULL

We choose YOU for this lovable and engaging camp that uses the fun and spirit of this time-honored show to teach valuable lessons in team-building and science. From Pokémon battles to building catapults and Pikachu crafts, kids will love the clever ways they can use their minds to defeat the mischievous Team Rocket. Learn a bit about science classification by discussing Pokémon “types,” design your own unique Pokémon card, play a numbers game, and witness the process of metamorphosis with various “evolving” Pokémon! How many words can you get out of the word “Charmander?” Make a fizzing Pokéball and see what happens when you place it in water! Are you ready for these Masterful ideas? You Gotta Catch ‘Em all!

Act Out for Fun – FULL

Learn everything about live musical theater! Over four days you will do scene work including choreography, directing, blocking, staging, costuming, make-up, singing, and dancing and end with a fun mini-performance of scenes from a Broadway musical. All ages and abilities welcome – experienced and inexperienced!
