Location:All HACEF camps are located at HHS EXCEPT Getting Ready for Kindergarten which is at WDPS!

All Camps at HHS: 9 am - 12 pm
All Camps at WDPS: 9:15 am - 12:15 pm
All Camps: Monday - Thursday except Week 1 (Mon-Wed)
There are a couple of afternoon camps that are tied with a morning Booster camp. These run from 12:45 pm - 3:45 pm (with a supervised lunch break in between camps).

Volunteers:

WEEK 1

Disney Days

Welcome to the magical world of Disney Days, where creativity takes center stage as campers create craft projects inspired by beloved Disney movies and characters. No Disney adventure is complete without delicious snacks to fuel the fun! Campers will delight in making themed snacks to take home. We’ll also have plenty of time to play games and explore with hands-on activities. So put on your Mickey ears and come join us!

Little LEGO Lovers

Does your little one love to build? This week your camper will have the chance to build, work with others, and compete in all things LEGO! Each child will bring home their own minifigure, mini-head, and LEGO crayons!

Summer Olympics - Week 1 - AM

This is an Olympic year!! Learn about countries around the world and all the different sports that come together to create the Olympics. Campers will learn and create while having fun. Our camp session would not be complete without some Olympic Games of our own!

LEGO Camp

Do you love LEGO? If so, this camp program is for you. Campers will have an opportunity to build from many different popular LEGO Themes, including City, Friends, Star Wars, Ninjago, Harry Potter, Minecraft, and more! In addition to assembling LEGO official sets, campers will compete and face different challenges to build the coolest Lego sets possible or see who can build a set with the fastest or strongest creations to earn the golden brick! If you love LEGO, you're sure to have a blast!

Extraordinary Entrepreneurs

Are you full of energy, have a great imagination, and have the best idea for a business? A camp for your entrepreneurs who dream of starting their own business. Entrepreneurs will create a product or service of their choice and present it. We will discuss creativity, innovation, innovation, design, leadership, and much more!

Petite Poets

Instructor: Lauren Kmiotek
Grades: 4-6

Young creatives will have the opportunity to express their emotions through the use of writing poetry and building artwork from their creations. Students will receive a mini-lesson and from there, will build on their writing skills through the outlet of poetry. Each student will create an art project that best reflects their feelings for each poem that they write.

Plein Air (Watercolor Nature Painting) -Week 1

Painting, nature, and summer!
Would you love to paint nature with me this summer? Join my Plein Air painting class and learn how to sketch out your compositions and make complete watercolor paintings that capture the feeling of the locations you are painting!

Plein Air, in French, means outdoors, and it refers to painting outside in nature from observation. We will be taking two field trips (weather permitting): one to Northport Harbor Village and one to Hecksher Park in Huntington Village.
(campers should be dropped off and picked up from field trip locations on these days)

Getting Ready for Kindergarten - Week 2

World Travelers

Come with Mrs. Krause on an adventure of a lifetime to Hong Kong, Australia, Hawaii, and Paris! Each day, the children will have their personalized passports "stamped" as they make their way around the globe. Campers will discover the richness of other cultures through activities, songs, dance, and art.

Little Sprouts Gardening Camp - Week 2

Budding gardeners will take a hands-on learning approach to planting and growing their own vegetable garden. Children will be encouraged to try out their green thumb during this interactive STEM gardening camp. Your “Little Sprout” will also learn about the basic needs and life cycle of plants, explore the world around them during a nature scavenger hunt, create chlorophyll paintings, and have a plantastic week!

Exploring 2D/3D Art

Instructor: Elizabeth Devaney

Both fun and inspiring, art opens up a world of exciting possibilities! Children will explore a variety of visual arts mediums such as painting, drawing, sculpture or ceramics, mixed media, and more. Age-appropriate projects are geared to expand students' artistic horizons by improving knowledge and skills. The session culminates with an art exhibition featuring artworks created during camp for family and friends to enjoy.

Easy As Pie

Get out your rolling pins because we’re going to start baking! Each day, we will focus on a different type of pie… making pie crust for mini apple pies, graham cracker crust filled with cream pies (Type TBD), adorable cupcakes decorated like little mini lattice-topped fruit pies, and even a day devoted to pizza pie. If time permits, we may even make baking crafts or play pie-related games, such as Pizza Party and Pie Face.

Robotics

Instructor: James Temps

Students will be introduced to the world of robotics and coding in a fun environment. The campers will work together to solve problems using robots that use LEGO parts.

Food Truck Face-Off

Do you consider yourself a foodie? Foodie - a person with a particular interest in food! A camp for entrepreneurs who love food and will create their own food truck presentation. Entrepreneurs will get to choose their own theme, menu items, truck design, and more!

We will end the week with a real food truck visiting HHS on the last day of camp! All Food Truck Face Off Campers will receive a coupon for a free item!

Summer Olympics (PM camp after AM Booster Camp)

Spanish Immersion Camp

Students will be immersed in Spanish through music, literature, and games. Your child will have a wonderful time exploring a new language. Vocabulary development will focus on greetings, colors, numbers, and family members. This is a great opportunity for your camper to learn a new language!

Pioneer Days

Take a trip back in time with Mrs. Krause. Learn what life was like in the 1800s for families traveling to new lands. Create crafts, make butter, write with quill pens, make your own clay marbles, and play games that are still fun today! Come have some good old-fashioned fun and learn about this historical period at the same time!

Pokemon - Week 3

Campers will participate in fun science experiments related to our favorite Pokemon characters. They will also create fun crafts using a variety of art materials. Each day of camp, we will watch snippets of
original Pokemon episodes to help guide our creativity as we create our Pokemon characters, Pokeballs, and trading cards. Campers will also have an opportunity to play card games with their camper friends.
If you are a Pokemon Pro, this is the right camp for you.

Famous Landmarks Around the World

Instructor: Maureen Ruggeberg

Discover some of the world’s most iconic landmarks! Campers will learn about the rich heritage of The Chrysler Building in New York City, the Taj Mahal in India, the Eiffel Tower in Paris, and St. Basil Cathedral in Russia. These world-famous structures attract millions of visitors each year because of their location, their history, and their unique architectural elements. Here is a chance for Campers to explore these incredible structures up close. Each camper will “build” a similar landmark using a variety of materials and creativity to capture the essence of the landmark in their own unique way. This is a hands-on camp involving cutting, painting, gluing, coloring, etc. In summary, this is a world exploration camp, a history camp, an art appreciation camp, and a creativity camp, all rolled up into days of fun, fun, fun!

Seasonal Sweets
Inspired by Sharon Chillemi's Chocolate Mania

Prepare for a sweet stroll through all four seasons. Each day, we focus on a different time of year, and we'll use our culinary skills to create some seasonal chocolate confections. Whether it's hot chocolate bombs for winter, chocolate-dipped apples for autumn, dirt cups for spring, or summer-themed cake pops, you'll satisfy your sweet tooth as you learn to dip, mold, and decorate with chocolate.

Game Show Camp

Students will partake in different forms of games, from teacher-led computer games like Blooket, Kahoot, and Quizzes to team games like Jeopardy! Games will be interactive and engaging topics. Hands on Clay - Week 3

Have your kids unplug and play with mud! Campers will enjoy four fun-filled days exploring the numerous possibilities clay has to offer, such as hand-building and wheel throwing. In addition, these mini potters will learn how to load and fire the kiln and experiment with various glaze applications. Campers will use their imagination and new skills to form both decorative and functional ceramic pieces that your family will treasure forever. The week will end with an art exhibit for family and friends to enjoy.

Students will be introduced to the history of fashion, which will be where they will find their inspiration, which will influence their own contemporary fashion designs. They will learn to apply clothing to the fashion figure and how to render fabrics and styles of details on clothing. They will also become skillful in various color pencil techniques. Mindful Moments - Week 4

Join us for a week of laughter, exploration, and growth as we embark on a journey of mindfulness, yoga, and journaling to foster both physical and emotional growth. Dance Camp

Making Summer Memories

Turn off the electronics and return to old fashion summer fun! This camp is a return to beloved and traditional games and activities to delight a child’s imagination. Campers will participate in sand art and tie-dying, decorate bottles to catch fireflies and whip up bubble paint to make wild designs. We will create a sign for a lemonade stand and then hold a lemonade stand together as a group to raise money for charity. Kids will learn strategy and communication skills while playing favorite board games such as Scrabble, Battleship, and Monopoly. The children will play old-fashioned outdoor games like kickball, hopscotch, balloon toss, and Red Light Green Light!

Do you love a good mystery? Use your detective skills and creativity to find clues, go on scavenger hunts, and create fingerprint art! Campers will crack secret codes and receive clues and tasks toward solving their own mystery! What's a mystery without invisible ink, magnifying lenses, and more!?!

WEEK 7

Act Out For Fun

Instructor: Cheryl Manniello

Have fun putting on a short performance in four days! Learn everything about live musical theater! Over four days, you will do scene work, including choreography, directing, blocking, staging, costuming, makeup, singing, and dancing. Then, you will end with a fun mini-performance of scenes from a Broadway musical. All ages and abilities are welcome—experienced and inexperienced!

To bead or not to bead? That's a good question! Learn to bead and watch your creativity soar! In this exciting class, campers will design and make beaded creations such as key chains, bookmarks, bracelets, and necklaces! They will also learn a variety of beading techniques, including stringing, knotting, wire wrapping, and much more! These mini-beaders will also learn the basics of polymer clay to create beautiful beads of their own to add to their creations!

Fashion Design II

Ceramic Creations Workshop will be an introduction to all the possibilities that clay holds!

During this camp, children will engage in wonderful hands-on and creative activities with clay. Campers will be introduced to pinch pots, coil pots, painting on pots, glazing pots, and animal figures. From sculpting adorable creatures and animals to learning ancient ceramic techniques, students will unleash their artistic talents!
