HACEF is proud to present this exceptional opportunity for our students—taking place in the Tornado News TV Studio suite with adjacent video editing computer lab at Harborfields High School! Campers will work in collaborative news teams as reporter, videographers, directors, and video editors to create “news package” videos which become part of their “Live from Harborfields” newscast. Campers will learn how to operate cameras, use microphones, operate and read from teleprompters, use greenscreens, and edit videos. At the end of the camp, campers and their families will be able to view and download their “Live from Harborfields” newscast video that they will create during the week.

Robotics is a cutting-edge learning opportunity for our Harborfields children, presenting students with the chance to learn and enjoy programming, mechanical design, and electrical construction. These life-changing skills will help give students a leg up in technology—all while having a great time!
Painting Al Fresco – COMPLETE

Having trouble choosing between an indoor summer activity and an outdoor one? Now you don’t have to! Make art while enjoying the beautiful summer outdoors with Painting Al Fresco camp! This camp includes four fun days of exploring various sketching and painting techniques. Students will have sketchbook exercises and learn tips and styles for painting gorgeous landscapes, gardens, perhaps even the waterfront! Follow our professional art instructor to a new creative place each day (both on campus and off) to learn and make friends who like art as much as you do. There will be a field trip to Northport Village on a designated day. The week will end with an art exhibit for family and friends.
Digital Photography for Beginners – COMPLETE

See the world through your lens! Capture great images and refine them through digital imaging. This fun experience will teach students how to really use their digital cameras and then how to edit those images in Adobe Photoshop. Students will learn the different modes and settings on their cameras, learn about photographic composition, lighting, and editing in Photoshop. Campers are encouraged to use their own camera if they have one, but cameras can be provided as well. There will be a field trip to Northport Village on a designated day.

Sew It Yourself – COMPLETE

This camp will be SEW much fun! Taught by Keri Puglisi, owner of Loops by Keri and of EmmaLoops Creative Studio, this class will explore hand sewing at each child’s level, whether they are new to sewing or have been sewing for years. Students will create a unique and lovable stuffed animal/creature of their very own design. With each project, students will experiment with cutting, pinning, and hand sewing as well as explore different embellishments like buttons and beads and how to best add to their work. No prior sewing experience needed.
World Travelers – COMPLETE

Storybooks Come Alive – COMPLETE

Small campers will be whisked into the magical world of favorite storybooks, as they experience these books using all their senses! Maybe one day you will give a pig a pancake and the next day help Pete sing a song when he loses a groovy button! What would happen if we DO let the pigeon drive the bus? Joyful and sensory art projects including drawing, painting, and clay will help bring these whimsical characters, even creatures such as dragons and unicorns, to life. Children will be encouraged to bring in their favorite books to share with the class and see what fun can be “drawn” out of the story to make it even more wonderful.
Summer Movie Madness – COMPLETE

This camp will focus on one movie for each day of the camp a campers to participate in STEAM activities!
Jurassic Park: campers will create fossils and participate in a dino dung dig.
Monsters Inc: campers will create their own monster using art supplies and create mood pictures using watercolors that highlight a particular scene from the movie.
Wreck it Ralph: campers will create their own sugar rush car and create a roller coasters using recyclable materials.
Toy Story: campers will create their own Forky friend and design their own graphic strip with Forky and the other Toy Story friends as the main characters using various art materials.
Making Summer Memories – COMPLETE

Turn off the phones and tune into Summer! This camp is a return to beloved and traditional games and old time summer activities to delight a child’s imagination. Campers will participate in sand art, tie-dying, arts and crafts, outdoor play and sidewalk chalk. We will create a sign for our famous lemonade stand and then sell it together as a group to raise money for a local charity. Kids will learn strategy and communication skills while playing favorite board games such as Scrabble, Battleship, and Monopoly. The children will play old-fashioned outdoor games like kickball, hopscotch, Red Light Green Light and also engage in a scavenger hunt with an awesome prize at the end!

The perfect camp for beach and ocean lovers: Let’s draw inspiration for our art from the beautiful sea, teeming with diverse and beautiful creatures—including real animals and those that are magical and mystical! Paint gorgeous watercolor aquatic scenes with sharks, mermaids, fish, and more. Add details and embellishments that will make these pieces of artwork “pop” with 3-D effect. Create treasure chests out of clay and store precious items within. Paint beach scenes with real sand and other beachy materials including seashells, sand dollars, and miniature starfish. Craft a jellyfish with fun materials including streamers and glitter! There will be an art exhibit at the end of the week to showcase each child’s work.
